Subject: Innovation of Higher Agricultural Education’
Task:
  • What education innovation strategies did and do higher agricultural education institutions employ to maintain and improve their position and impact in society?
  • What relationship does exist between these innovations strategies and student enrolment numbers?
  • What strategies does the institutions use to adjust their curricula to the demand of graduates in society?
  • Which are the innovative elements in these curricula (compared to the curricula which existed before) and what implications do they have for the competence of teaching staff?
  • What faculty development policies and practices exist to support the continuous professional development of teaching staff?
  • To what extent does teaching staff participate in what kind of professional development activities?
  • What are the results of these professional development activities?

Subject: Computer-supported collaborative learning in Higher Life Sciences Education
Task: In this project the following questions will be studied:
  • Effects of argumentation and collaboration scripts and prompting.
  • Effects of developing or using different graphical representation techniques in CSCL-environments
  • Effects of different types of online feedback and coaching.
The study is a follow-up on the work of Else Veldhuis-Diermanse, Hossein Mahdizadeh, Omid Noroozi and Vitaliy Popov. See their publications when applying for this project.

Subject: Effects of Competence Development in Organizations
Task: In this project the following questions will be studied:
  • Which systems of Competence Modelling, Assessment and Development do organizations use? A distinction will be made between Certification and Development oriented systems.
  • How are these systems related to Talent and Management Development programs?
  • What facilities and activities are provided by organizations for employee training and development?
  • What activities are employees undertaking for what purposes to develop their competence?
  • What effects do different stakeholders (HR – management – employees) report on the effects of different competence development instruments?
The study is a follow-up on the work of Martin Mulder (Competentieontwikkeling in organisaties. Perspectieven en Praktijk – Elsevier Bedrijfs Informatie, 2001, and related work published in articles with co-workers)

Subject: Training and development in organisations in the Netherlands
Task: In this project the following questions will be studied:
  • What is the participation of employees in organizations in different kinds of training and development activities (this will be analysed based on statistical data available at national level)?
  • What are the trends in the field of training and development according to specialists in the field? A distinction will be made between the internal and external training market.
  • What are the determinants of quality of training programs for employees (this will be tested with advance statistical analyses based on large scale data collection)?
  • What are experiences of employees, subordinates, supervisors and managers with training and development facilities, learning conditions in the work place, quality of training and development programs and activities and their effects for personal development, job performance, employability and career development?
  • What problems do organisations meet regarding training and development of employees (this will be studies in case studies)?
The study is a follow-up on the work of Martin Mulder (Bedrijfsopleidingen in Nederland, 1988 and many later publications in the literature)

Subject: Curriculum development on new skills for sustainable development’
Task: In this project the following questions will be studied:
  • What does the literature say about the new skills for sustainable development (which skills emerge as being essential)?
  • How do different stakeholders in given curriculum development processes appreciate the different skills?
  • How can differences of appreciation be reconciled (how can consensus be reached regarding skills to teach)? A distinction will be made between deliberative and non/less deliberative approaches of curriculum decision making.
  • What are the long-term effects of different decision making strategies on opinions regarding the inclusion of certain skills in the curriculum (in term of stability of convergence effects which take place during multiple-stakeholder decision making facilitation).
The study is a follow-up on the work of Martin Mulder (The curriculum conference, dissertation of 1992, and many later publications in the literature).
